2010 is the 750th Anniversary of the old part of St. John’s Church. We hope you will join us at one of our events and contribute a good news story! We aim to collect 750 from our community this year.
We think our anniversary is a great opportunity not just for St John’s but for the whole community of Old Coulsdon to celebrate our history, share good news about our present and ask questions about our future.
Some of the activities planned are;
Medieval Banquet; on April 24th we travel back in time to celebrate our anniversary at a medieval banquet! We join King Henry V as he makes merry following his victory at the Battle of Agincourt. We will be enjoying a three-course meal including a hog roast and be entertained by live medieval music, dancing and drama performed by local amateurs of all ages!
Tickets will cost £10 for adults, £5 for children under 11. If you buy a group of 4 adult tickets the price is £35. Tickets will go on sale from 14th March.
Target to collect 750 good news stories; we want to encourage our community to share its good news. From April until September we will be seeking to collect 750 good news stories on postcards, email and Facebook.
Weekend of Summer Fun; on the 17th and 18th July the churches and other local organizations will come together for performances of all kinds, a BBQ, a local History Treasure Hunt and displays in the church.
Asking questions about hopes for the future; we will be asking our community what their hopes are for the future and how the church might be able to help realize them
