This page describes the various types of service.
This is a traditional service of readings and prayers and takes place in
the old church. It lasts about an hour and follows the pattern of the 1662
Book of Common Prayer. There are hymns and an address.

This is a very informal service, especially suited to young children. It is
an ideal way for families to start to come to church together after the
baptism of a child. It also aims to be accessible to those with little or
no experience of church services. It often includes lively action songs and
lasts about half an hour.

Holy Communion services in the old church use the 1662 Prayer Book and also
include an address. They are ideal for those who appreciate times of quiet
reverence. There are no hymns. The Sunday morning service lasts for about 45
minutes; the Thursday morning about 30 minutes. On the third Thursday of the
month there is the chance to receive the laying-on of hands, as a way of
bringing to God specific prayers.

Join the staff for their daily prayers together, as they say psalms of praise,
listen to Bible readings, and offer prayers for many concerns locally and
around the world. Anyone is welcome, either regularly or as a one-off. The
prayers last 20-30 minutes.

As the principal service of the church, the Parish Communion aims to be
accessible to as broad a cross-section of the parish as possible. It is
the largest gathering of the week, and uses contemporary liturgy
(Common Worship) together with a range of traditional hymns and modern songs.
Children meet at the parish hall in their group, ROCK,
during this service.
They are brought back to the church to be collected at about 10.45.

Bring your buggy and your baby to a service for the very youngest children
-- anything goes! It's an introduction to church and to prayers, and for
adults a chance to meet others of this Church community over coffee and
squash afterwards.

A quiet service which gives more time and space than usual for us to bring
to God our concerns about ourselves and our friends, and open ourselves
to receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit. There is a chance to receive
the laying-on of hands with prayer, confident that God will meet us at
the point of our need. A leaflet to help you to prepare for the service
is available from the Parish Office. If you
have not been before, you can be sure that this is a gentle service.

‘Worship Together’ is relaxed and joyful, helping us to celebrate
the goodness of God and to be built up in our daily lives. It is a service
for all ages and for all the parish, lasting about 50 minutes.
The uniformed youth organizations attend with their colours. It is not
a communion service, but focuses on the teaching themes of the other morning services
during the month and presents them in imaginative and practical ways.

The content of Youth Communion is broadly the same as Parish Communion. However,
all ages join together in worship for the entire service; children and youth
share in the leading of the service and the style is closer to that of
Worship Together.
