Parochial Church Council (PCC)

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is the body that has legal responsibility for the affairs of the church. PCC meets about once a month with the Election of Churchwardens and Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) taking place in April. At the APCM elections are held for lay representatives to Deanery Synod (the latter are ex officio members of PCC) and PCC, Sidesmen and the Independent Examiner. Reports are made on Changes to the Electoral Roll, PCC and its committees, Financial Reports and Statements, the Fabric, Goods and Ornaments of the Church and the proceedings of Deanery and Diocesan Synods as well as discussion on matters of parochial or general Church interest.

The Action Teams deal with specific areas of church life, viz. Worship, Nurture, Care and Fellowship, Outreach, Property and Finance.

Bookstall

The bookstall, with a wide selection of Christian books for adults and children, is available at the 9:30 a.m. Parish Communion services on the first and third Sundays in a month, the 11:15 a.m. Family Service on the first Sunday and Pram Service on the third Tuesday in the month.

A much larger selection is provided in the pre-Christmas period, including Advent Calendars and candles. Bible Reading Notes are obtained for adults and children. The books all come from the Bookshop in Croydon and any book you would like to buy can be ordered by special request.

Traidcraft

A Traidcraft stall, specializing in foodstuffs and commodities, is held once a month at St. John's, normally after Parish Communion on the fourth (or fifth) Sunday. Old Coulsdon Congregational Church also sell from our stock which we get from Opportunities Through Trade.

The principle behind Traidcraft, which is largely sold through voluntary representatives, is to ensure the workers producing foodstuffs, commodities and crafts get a fair price for their labours. St. John's Church and other good causes benefit from the small profit made by the stall.

Christian Aid/Traidcraft/CAFOD Christmas cards are sold in the pre-Christmas period and an occasional clothing display is arranged. Other goods from a catalogue can be obtained on order, post free.
