You are outside the gate looking in. Turn left for the green north of the
churchyard or move forwards to enter.
The entrance to the church grounds is a lych gate, so called
because there is provision for a coffin to be lych or let down during the
wait in a funeral.
In 1912 it was described as "modern".
Note the mounting blocks on the left, a relic of the
days when many people came to church on horseback.
