mark In the North wall of the chancel of the Old Church are stained glass windows depicting the evangelists St. Matthew and St. Mark. Under the images, are their symbols of a man and a lion respectively. Under the man is the mark (right) of the maker, Alfred Wilkinson.

The Saints hold books to indicate that they are Evangelists. St. Matthew also holds money bags.

The four Evangelists are the four Saints who gave accounts of the life of Jesus, the Gospels. "Gospel" is from the old English "god spell" meaning "good writing". "Evangelist" is from the Greek "euangelion" meaning "good message".
