St. John the Evangelist

Coulsdon Parish Church - Old Coulsdon, Surrey

This is a larger version of the view along the New Church from about one third of the way from the screen which divides it from the Old Church. Over the altar is a baldachino or canopy. Note the processional cross to the left of the pulpit and the Wardens' wands near to on either side of the centre aisle. To the left of the altar is the Bishop's chair, sketched left, and to the right some seats. These were made by the local Guild of Craftsmen especially for the 1959 extension.

Since this was taken, we have obtained a small number of padded chairs for those with sitting problems. One is usually in front of the wand on the left.
