Coulsdon Parish Church - Old Coulsdon, Surrey

When the new church was built, the South transept of the old church was opened up to provide entrance to the new church with a movable screen between the churches. In this image, the right hand half of the screen is drawn back allowing a view through the old church. The wall of the old south gallery was moved forwards to make space for this organ loft in the upper part. This shows it with the organ in place.

Since this was taken the organ has been moved, partly because the balustrade was becoming dangerous. In early 2010 it was repaired and the loft is occasionally used by singers and musicians with portable instuments.
